Take a Brain Break: 1 Tip Now

Take a Break

We are all ready for a break! This year has been filled with doing and learning new skills, and our brains (and emotions) are at capacity. We recognize the need to recharge on the macro level. But what if we could do the same at the micro level-- during every class?

Today’s Tip:

Take a brain break! A brain break is a short period of time when you change up the routine of a class. Because our brains crave novelty, brain breaks are critical, not only to recharge, but also to learn.

Two examples:
•    A 60-second doodle competition. Have your students doodle for 60 seconds, and then share their drawings with the class.
•    Or give your students the chance to DJ a dance break-- movement and fun!

We wish you a wonderful extended “brain break” this holiday season.

May you come back refreshed and ready to keep those brain breaks coming.

Today's Inspiration:

"A moment of self-compassion can change your day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life."

- Christopher Germer
